Download, sign up, and get your team set up.
Ensayo is on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). The fastest way is to visit ensayoapp.com on your phone and tap the download button — it takes you to the right store automatically.
Create your account directly in the iOS or Android app — that's where new accounts are set up. Sign up with your email, or use Sign in with Apple or Google for one-tap setup. Once your account exists, you can also sign in to the web dashboard at app.ensayoapp.com using the same credentials.
Your team leader sends you an invitation. Once you receive the invite link or code:
In the app, go to your team menu and tap "Create new team." Give it a name (your church name works great), choose your service days (Sunday, Wednesday, etc.), and you're done. You're now the team leader and can invite the rest of your worship team.
They share the same data — sign into either with the same account and you see the same songs, services, and team. The mobile apps (iOS and Android) are best for use during rehearsal and on Sunday — Live Mode, metronome, swiping through chord charts. The web dashboard at app.ensayoapp.com is best for planning when you're working on a laptop — building set lists, editing charts with a real keyboard, managing the team.
Once you've loaded songs and services on your device, they're cached locally — so you can view them offline (think: church basement with bad signal). New changes from your team won't sync until you're back online, but you'll never be stuck staring at a blank screen on Sunday morning.
Build your library and prepare charts for any service.
In the app or web dashboard, tap "Add song," type or paste your chord chart, set the original key, and save. You can also browse the community library for songs other Ensayo worship leaders have already shared — saves you from typing it from scratch.
Open any song and tap the key indicator. Use the up/down arrows to shift the whole chart to a new key. Ensayo handles enharmonic spelling correctly (so you'll see Bb in flat keys, not A#). To lock a transposition while you scroll through verses, use Transpose Hold.
Sometimes you sing a song in a different key just for one Sunday — maybe the regular vocalist is out and the person filling in needs it lower. Set a service-specific key on that song for just that service. Your original key stays untouched, and the next time you use the song it goes back to normal.
If it's a song in your team's library, yes — anyone with editing permissions on the team can update charts. Songs from the community library are read-only by default; if you want to customize one, duplicate it into your team library first, then edit your copy.
Ensayo expects chords on their own line above the lyric line, like a standard chord sheet. If you pasted from a PDF or website, sometimes hidden formatting comes along. Easiest fix: paste into a plain text editor first to strip formatting, then paste that into Ensayo.
Make Sunday morning smooth from the platform.
Open today's service and tap the Live Mode icon (the play button). Once in Live Mode, swipe horizontally to move between songs in your set list. Rotate your phone or tablet to landscape and Ensayo auto-zooms the chart to fill the screen.
Yes. Ensayo offers light and dark themes — toggle from the Live Mode menu. Dark theme is great for low-light platforms; light theme is better when you have stage lighting overhead.
No. Ensayo keeps your screen awake while Live Mode is active — no awkward locked screen mid-bridge. When you exit Live Mode your phone goes back to normal lock behavior.
Yes — if your team leader assigned a leader per song, you'll see their name at the top of each chart in Live Mode. Helpful when the bridge hits and you need to know who's taking the next vocal.
Yes — that's Transpose Hold. While you're in Live Mode, your transpose amount stays the same as you swipe between songs. So if you transpose +2 on song 1, song 2 also opens at +2. When you exit Live Mode, everything resets to the original keys for the next service.
No more "what are we singing this week?" mid-service.
From the services screen, tap "New service." Pick the date, add songs from your library (drag to reorder), assign a leader per song if you want, and the service is ready. Your team will see it instantly.
Long-press any song in the list and drag it to a new position. Works on phone and tablet. Order saves instantly to every device on the team.
Blackout dates are days you (or any team member) can't serve — vacation, work travel, family emergency. Mark them in your profile and Ensayo automatically rolls them up into the team's attendance view, so the leader knows who's available without sending out a group text.
Yes. Open the service you want to copy and tap "Duplicate." A copy is created on the next service date with the same songs and order — edit from there. Great for "same set, new week."
Yes. When you publish a new service or add a song to an existing one, your team gets a push notification on their phones. They can also choose to mute notifications in their settings if they prefer.
The rehearsal tools your band actually uses.
Open the metronome from the main menu. Set the tempo (BPM), pick a time signature, and tap play. You can also use tap zones to set tempo by tapping along — useful when you're trying to match a click track from a recording.
Beyond the click, the metronome can play chords from a key you choose — so you can practice with harmonic context, not just a beat. Pick the key, tap any chord (I, IV, V, vi, etc.) and the metronome plays it back at tempo. Great for vocal warmups, ear training, or jamming.
Guitar Mode tells you exactly where to put your capo to play a song using easy chord shapes. Pick the comfortable shape you want to play (G, C, D, etc.) and Ensayo calculates the capo position that lands the song in the actual sung key.
Yes — Ensayo uses your device's standard audio output. If your phone is connected to Bluetooth speakers, AirPods, in-ear monitors, or a wired connection to your church's sound system, the metronome plays through whatever your phone is currently using.
Invite, organize, and keep your team in sync.
As the team leader, go to Team settings and tap "Invite member." Share the invite link by text, email, WhatsApp, or any way you communicate with your team. They tap the link, install Ensayo if they don't have it, and join the team.
No. The team leader subscribes; team members join for free. One subscription covers your whole worship team.
Currently Ensayo has two main roles: Leader (creates services, manages the team, edits songs) and Member (views services, follows along on Sunday). More granular roles for editor, music director, and band-only access are on our roadmap.
Open the upcoming service and check the attendance view — you'll see green for available members and gray for anyone with a blackout date that day. No need to ask in the group chat.
As the team leader, yes. Go to Team settings, tap the member, and choose Remove. They'll lose access to your team's songs and services. Their personal account stays intact — they just won't be on your team anymore.
Yes. As the team leader, you can send each member a personal availability link they open in any browser — no Ensayo account needed. They tap the dates they can't serve, and those dates flow back into your team's attendance view automatically. Great for older team members or anyone who doesn't want another app on their phone.
Free trial, monthly, yearly, and the JSM perk.
You get two full months free when you sign up. You'll see a notification before the trial ends so you can decide whether to continue. If you cancel before the trial ends, you don't pay anything.
Cancel from your device's subscription settings — the same place you manage Apple Music, Netflix, etc.
You keep access through the end of your billing period.
Every active Ensayo subscriber gets a 10% off code for any purchase of $500 or more at johnsotomusic.com (church audio gear: Allen & Heath, Midas, RCF, Shure, Sennheiser, etc.). One $500 purchase saves you $50, which covers most of your annual Ensayo subscription. Buy a $600 sound system and the year is essentially on us.
Yes. Go to your device's subscription settings (same place you cancel), tap Ensayo, and switch plans. The change takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Your songs and services stay in your account. You can keep viewing what you've already created — you just won't be able to add new services or invite new team members until you resubscribe. Resume anytime and you pick up exactly where you left off.
Refunds for App Store / Google Play subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google directly (we never see your card info, so we can't issue refunds on our end). Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. Google: play.google.com → account → order history. Email us if you need a hand sorting it out.
Personal preferences, password, language, theme.
Tap your profile, then Settings → Language. You can choose English, Spanish, or Follow device language. Same setting works on iOS, Android, and the web dashboard — your choice syncs across devices.
On the login screen (in the app or at app.ensayoapp.com), tap "Forgot password?" Enter your email and we'll send you a reset link. Check your spam folder if it doesn't show up in a couple minutes.
Profile → Settings → Account → Change email. We'll send a verification link to the new address — once you confirm, the change is live everywhere.
Inside Ensayo: Profile → Settings → Notifications, then toggle off the categories you don't want (service published, song added, reminders, etc.). Or fully disable Ensayo notifications at the OS level: iPhone Settings → Notifications → Ensayo, or Android Settings → Apps → Ensayo → Notifications.
Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. We'll ask you to confirm because this is permanent. Within 30 days we permanently remove your personal data. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first from your device's subscription settings — deleting your account does not automatically cancel a paid subscription with Apple or Google.
