Ensayo is a worship team rehearsal app made by John Soto Music LLC, based in Aiken, South Carolina. We respect your privacy and your team's worship content. This policy covers how the Ensayo apps (iOS and Android) and the web dashboard at app.ensayoapp.com handle your information.
What information do we collect?
When you create an account, sign in, or use Ensayo, we may collect:
- Account info: your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from those services.
- Worship team content: songs, chord charts, set lists, services, blackout dates, attendance, leader assignments, and other content you or your team creates inside Ensayo.
- Device data: device type, operating system, app version, language preference, and crash reports. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
- Push notification tokens: anonymous tokens from Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) so we can send you service reminders and team updates. You can turn off notifications in your device settings anytime.
- Subscription status: if you subscribe, we receive your subscription status (active, trial, canceled) from Apple or Google. We never see or store your credit card numbers — those stay with Apple and Google.
You can use the public-facing parts of our website (like this page or ensayoapp.com) without giving us any personal info.
What do we use your information for?
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:
- To provide and operate Ensayo's features — syncing your songs, services, and team across devices.
- To send service reminders, rehearsal updates, and important account messages.
- To improve the app — fixing bugs, building new features, and making things faster.
- To respond when you contact us for help or have a question.
- To send occasional email updates if you subscribe to our newsletter or sign up for early access.
Your information will never be sold, exchanged, or given to any other company for marketing, ads, or any other reason — without your consent.
If you no longer want to receive emails from us, every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom.
How do we protect your information?
We use industry-standard security to keep your data safe:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS — encrypted between your device and our servers.
- Your data is stored on Google Firebase, with encryption at rest and access controls limited to authorized systems.
- Passwords are hashed using strong algorithms — we can never see your actual password.
- Payment information stays with Apple and Google. We never receive or store credit card numbers.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and respond quickly if anything ever goes wrong.
Do we use cookies?
Our website (ensayoapp.com) uses minimal cookies — mainly to remember your language preference (EN/ES) so you don't have to set it every visit. The Ensayo apps don't use web cookies but do store similar small files on your device for sign-in and sync.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as smoothly without them.
Do we share information with anyone else?
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to outside parties for their own use. We do work with trusted service providers who help us run Ensayo. These providers process data only on our behalf, under strict confidentiality:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, and crash reporting.
- Apple APNs & Google FCM — push notification delivery to your device.
- Apple App Store & Google Play — subscription billing and management.
- RevenueCat — subscription status synchronization across devices.
- Vercel — hosting for our web dashboard.
- Omnisend — email delivery for newsletters and account messages, if you opt in.
We may also share information when required by law, when enforcing our terms, or when needed to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Sharing within your worship team
When you join or create a worship team in Ensayo, your name and basic profile are visible to the other members of that team. Service assignments, attendance, and song contributions are shared with your team — that's the whole point of the app. This is by design, not a privacy leak.
Children
Ensayo is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, please email us and we'll remove the account.
Your rights and choices
You have control over your data. At any time, you can:
- Update your name, email, or password from inside the Ensayo app.
- Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- Cancel your subscription from your Apple or Google account settings.
- Delete your account and all associated personal data — within 30 days of the request, we'll permanently remove your information, except where retention is required by law.
If you live in California, the EU, or another region with data protection laws (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), you may have additional rights — like requesting a copy of your data or asking us to stop processing it. To exercise those rights, just email us at the address below.
Third-party links
Ensayo may occasionally link to other websites — for example, to johnsotomusic.com, an artist's site, or a YouTube video. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We're not responsible for what happens on third-party sites, but we do try to only link to ones we trust.
Online privacy policy only
This privacy policy applies only to information collected through the Ensayo apps and websites — not to information shared offline, in person, by phone, or through other channels.
International users
Ensayo is operated from the United States. If you use Ensayo from outside the U.S., your data is transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers (Google, Apple, Vercel) operate.
Your consent
By using Ensayo, you consent to this privacy policy.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and — if changes are significant — let you know in the app or by email.
